Written by Chanel M. contributed by Kyle J. Norton, All right reserve

Wuyi Cliff Oolong tea, the best of Oolong and one of 3 indredients of Tava Tea, is a species of Camellia sinensis belonging to the family Theaceae, native the Wuyi Mountain area. Its leaves and leaf buds has been used as tea in Chinese culture and many places in the world, including Wuyi Rock Tea, Tie Guan Yin tea, Taiwan tea and Oolong tea, Iron Goddess of Mercy and other products in Fujian, etc.. Oolong can be bought as green or black tea but it is best known as a black tea in the process of withering under the strong sun and oxidation before curling and twisting.

Health Benefits of Oolong Tea
2. Weight Loss
a. In the examination of anti-obesity effects of oolong tea on diet-induced overweight or obesity in the study of "Beneficial effects of oolong tea consumption on diet-induced overweight and obese subjects" by He RR, Chen L, Lin BH, Matsui Y, Yao XS, Kurihara H.[2a], researchers found that A total of 70% of the severely obese subjects did show a decrease of more than 1 kg in body weight, including 22% who lost more than 3 kg. Similarly, 64% of the obese subjects and 66% of the overweight subjects lost more than 1 kg during the experiment, and the subcutaneous fat content decreased in 12% of the subjects and concluded that Oolong tea could decrease body fat content and reduce body weight through improving lipid metabolism. Long term consumption of oolong tea may prevent against obesity.

b. In the determination of Oolong tea is traditionally reported to have anti-obesity and hypolipidaemic effects with a high-fat diet-induced obese mice were treated with oolong tea for 10 weeks of the study of "Anti-obesity action of oolong tea" by Han LK, Takaku T, Li J, Kimura Y, Okuda H.[2b], researchers indicated that the anti-obesity effects of oolong tea in high-fat diet-treated mice might be due partly to the enhancing effect of caffeine isolated from oolong tea on noradrenaline-induced lipolysis in adipose tissue, and to the inhibitory action of some other substance in oolong tea on pancreatic lipase activity and concluded that oolong tea may be an effective crude drug for the treatment of obesity and fatty liver caused by a high-fat diet.

c. In the obesity management regarded to the consumption of caffeine, capsaicin and different teas such as green, white and oolong tea, of the study of "Thermogenic ingredients and body weight regulation" by Hursel R, Westerterp-Plantenga MS.[2c], researchers indicated that they may increase energy expenditure (4-5%), fat oxidation (10-16%) and have been proposed to counteract the decrease in metabolic rate that is present during weight loss. Daily increases in thermogenesis of approximately 300-400 kJ can eventually lead to substantial weight loss but certain conditions have to be met before thermogenic ingredients yield an effect, as intra-variability with respect to body weight regulation has been shown between subjects.

d. In the research of study of hypolipidemic and anti-obesity effects of Oolong tea of the study of "Mechanisms of hypolipidemic and anti-obesity effects of tea and tea polyphenols" by JK, Lin-Shiau SY. researchers found that Oolong tea has demonstrated that the body weights of rats and their plasma triglyceride, cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol have been significantly reduced by feedings of oolong
