Organic Tava Tea Researches - The Ingredients of Wuyi Cliff Oolong tea and Metabolism

Written by Chanel M. contributed by Kyle J. Norton, All right reserve

Wuyi Cliff Oolong tea, the best of Oolong and one of 3 ingredients of Tava Tea, is a species of Camellia sinensis belonging to the family Theaceae, native the Wuyi Mountain area. Its leaves and leaf buds has been used as tea in Chinese culture and many places in the world, including Wuyi Rock Tea, Tie Guan Yin tea, Taiwan tea and Oolong tea, Iron Goddess of Mercy and other products in Fujian, etc.. Oolong can be bought as green or black tea but it is best known as a black tea in the process of withering under the strong sun and oxidation before curling and twisting.

Health Benefits of Oolong tea
5. Increase metabolism
a. Increases metabolic rate
In the experiment of testing the effectiveness of weigh control in Oolong tea in the study of "Oolong tea increases metabolic rate and fat oxidation in men" by Rumpler W, Seale J, Clevidence B, Judd J, Wiley E, Yamamoto S, Komatsu T, Sawaki T, Ishikura Y, Hosoda K.[5.a], researchers found that full-strength tea (daily allotment brewed from 15 g of Oolong tea), energy expenditure(EE) was significantly increased 2.9 and 3.4% for the full-strength tea and caffeinated water and fat oxidation was significantly higher (12%)

b. Decreasing body fat
In the evaluation of the effect of oolong tea on energy expenditure (EE) in comparison with green tea in the study of "Oolong tea increases energy metabolism in Japanese females" by Komatsu T, Nakamori M, Komatsu K, Hosoda K, Okamura M, Toyama K, Ishikura Y, Sakai T, Kunii D, Yamamoto S.[5b], researchers found that consumption increases of EE for 120 min were significantly increased 10% and 4% after the consumption of oolong tea and green tea, respectively. EE at 60 and 90 min were significantly higher. In comparison with green tea, oolong tea contained approximately half the caffeine and epigallocatechin galate, while polymerized polyphenols were double and suggested that suggest that oolong tea increases EE by its polymerized polyphenols.

c. Body weight regulation
In the evaluation of the effectiveness of consumption of caffeine, capsaicin and different teas such as green, white and oolong tea, in obesity management, in a study of "Thermogenic ingredients and body weight regulation" by Hursel R, Westerterp-Plantenga MS.[5c], researchers found that daily increases in thermogenesis of approximately 300-400 kJ can eventually lead to significant effects on metabolic targets and substantial weight loss.
